The Telangana Government is moving ahead with the implementation of its Electric Scooter Subsidy Scheme, which offers an 80% subsidy on electric scooters to eligible minority women. The beneficiary selection process is progressing rapidly, with the final list expected to be released on or before August 20, 2026.
.In Hyderabad district, the implementation of the scheme is being supervised by the District Minorities Finance Corporation and the Minority Welfare Department. Hyderabad District Collector Dr. Priyanka Ala has instructed officials to ensure complete transparency while scrutinizing all applications. Government officials have begun reviewing applications through mandal-level committees to identify eligible beneficiaries.
Huge Response from Applicants
The Telangana Government has allocated 1,200 electric scooters for Hyderabad district under this scheme. However, the response has been far beyond expectations. A total of 28,045 online applications were submitted, while only 1,200 beneficiaries can be selected. Due to the limited quota, authorities are carefully verifying every application before preparing the final beneficiary list.

The Telangana Government will spend ₹14.40 crore towards subsidies for Hyderabad district alone. Officials stated that the scheme aims to support economically weaker minority women and young women by helping them become self-employed and financially independent.

How Beneficiaries Will Be Selected
The verification process has already started at the mandal level.
Applications are being scrutinized by a committee comprising:
- Tahsildar
- GHMC Representatives
- Minority Welfare Department Officials
After the initial screening, the shortlisted applications will be forwarded to the District-Level Committee for final approval. Additionally, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) will verify the driving licence details of shortlisted applicants before the final selection is completed.
Final Beneficiary List by August 20
Once all document verification and eligibility checks are completed, the Telangana Government is expected to publish the final list of selected beneficiaries by August 20, 2026.
Applicants who are selected under the scheme will be able to purchase an electric scooter by paying only ₹30,000, while the government covers the remaining ₹1.20 lakh through subsidy
