PM YASASVI Scholarship 2026: Get Up to ₹1.25 Lakh for OBC, EBC & DNT Students

The PM YASASVI Scholarship 2026 is an important Central Government scholarship scheme for eligible students belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and De-Notified Tribes (DNT) categories.

Implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (PM YASASVI) aims to support students from eligible communities in accessing quality education.

Under the Top Class Education in Schools component, financial assistance is available for eligible students studying in selected schools from Class 9 to Class 12. The scholarship can cover tuition fees, hostel fees and other eligible school-related expenses, subject to the prescribed limits. The official NSP currently lists the school component under PM YASASVI Central Sector Scheme of Top Class Education in Schools for OBC, EBC and DNT Students. For 2026–27, the portal currently shows the application as a renewal application with a student deadline of September 30, 2026.

How Much Scholarship is Available?

The financial assistance under the scheme depends on the student’s class.

Classes 9 and 10

Eligible students can receive financial assistance of up to ₹75,000 per year.

Classes 11 and 12

Students can receive financial assistance of up to ₹1,25,000 per year.

The assistance is intended to meet tuition fees, hostel fees and other eligible charges required by the school, subject to the scheme’s prescribed ceiling.

Who Can Apply for PM YASASVI Scholarship 2026?

Students should generally meet the following conditions:

  • The student must belong to the OBC, EBC or DNT category.
  • The student should be studying in an eligible Top Class School.

What Are Top Class Schools?

The PM YASASVI school scholarship is not available to students in every school.

The scheme covers schools shortlisted under the Government’s Top Class Education framework. The official scheme guidelines provide for selection of high-performing schools and financial assistance to eligible students studying in those institutions.

Students should therefore check whether their school is listed/eligible on the National Scholarship Portal before applying.

Documents Required

Students may be required to provide or verify documents such as:

How to Apply for PM YASASVI Scholarship 2026?

Students should first complete the required One Time Registration (OTR) process. NSP states that an OTR number is required to apply for scholarships and remains applicable throughout the student’s academic career.

After completing OTR, eligible students can:

  3. Select the PM YASASVI scholarship scheme.
  4. Enter the required personal, academic and bank details.
  5. Upload or provide the required documents.

The PM YASASVI school scheme is implemented through NSP with assistance from State Governments/UTs, and scholarship payments are made through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to eligible beneficiaries.

According to the current National Scholarship Portal 2026–27 scheme listing, the student application deadline shown for the PM YASASVI Top Class Education in Schools scheme is:

However, the current NSP listing identifies this deadline under renewal applications. Students applying for the first time should check the scheme status and their eligibility on NSP before assuming that the same deadline applies to a fresh application.
